The Bike Shack is a full-service bike shop and specialist e-bike conversion workshop, built for riders who want performance, reliability, and proper workmanship. Alongside expert e-bike conversions, we handle everything you’d expect from a professional bike shop — servicing, repairs, parts fitting, wheel work, drivetrain maintenance, brake servicing, suspension setup, and general bike care. Whether it’s a quick fix, a full overhaul, or keeping your daily ride running smooth, we’ve got it covered. Where we really stand out is in custom electric builds. We transform standard bikes into powerful, clean-looking e-machines with carefully installed motors, battery systems, and upgraded components built for real-world riding. No messy wiring, no rushed jobs — just solid, dependable setups that look factory and perform properly. From regular pedal bikes to high-powered electric builds, The Bike Shack is where everyday riders and custom project owners come for honest advice, quality parts, and workshop-level results. Assessment, Authorisation and Collection Policy To help us manage workshop space efficiently, customers must respond promptly to assessment notifications and collect completed bicycles within the specified timeframes. **Assessment and Repair Authorisation** Where additional work is identified during inspection, service, or repair, we will notify you of the recommended work and any associated costs. You must authorise or decline the additional work within **48 hours** of the notification being sent. If no response is received within 48 hours, your bicycle may be transferred to our off-site storage facility. The following charges will apply: * £5 transfer fee to storage * £5 per day storage charge * £5 transfer fee back to the workshop Any storage and transfer charges must be paid before the bicycle is released. **Bicycles Not Proceeding with Recommended Work** If you choose not to proceed with the recommended service, repair, or additional work, your bicycle must be collected within **48 hours** of our notification. Bicycles not collected within this period may be transferred to off-site storage and will incur the charges detailed above. **Completed Work and Collection** Once we notify you that your bicycle is ready for collection, it must be collected within **48 hours**. Bicycles not collected within this period may be transferred to off-site storage and will incur the following charges: * £5 transfer fee to storage * £5 per day storage charge * £5 transfer fee back to the workshop Any storage and transfer charges must be paid before the bicycle is released. **Advance Notice of Extended Storage Requirements** If you know before booking your bicycle in that you may be unable to authorise work, respond to notifications, or collect your bicycle within the timeframes stated above, please inform us at the time of booking. We will be happy to discuss your requirements and, where possible, agree suitable arrangements in advance. Any agreement to hold a bicycle beyond the standard collection and response periods is at our discretion and subject to available workshop and storage capacity. By booking a service or repair with us, you agree to these terms.

What we offer
Basic Service
Recommended every six months to keep your bike safe, smooth and reliable. We inspect the frame, fork and steering, check and adjust the headset and stem, assess grips or bar tape, and inspect suspension-fork seals and function where fitted. We also check the wheels, tyres, brakes, drivetrain, cranks, pedals, saddle and accessories, making the included adjustments needed for safe operation. Any replacement parts or extra repair work will be discussed with you first.

Advanced Service
Everything included in our Basic Service, plus a more comprehensive inspection, tune-up and deep clean. We clean the frame and tyres, thoroughly clean and lubricate the drivetrain, and carry out detailed checks and adjustments to the steering, wheels, tyres, brakes, gears, cranks, pedals, saddle and accessories. Where applicable, we replace both brake cables and both gear cables. Ideal for bikes that need extra care, have not been serviced recently, or are used regularly. Any additional repairs or replacement parts will always be agreed with you first.

Puncture Repair
Labour-only puncture repair includes removing and refitting the wheel and tyre, locating the cause of the puncture, and checking the tyre and rim for sharp objects or damage. We only fit new inner tubes and do not repair or patch existing tubes. Parts are extra: standard inner tubes are £10 and self-sealing tubes are £15.

E-Bike Conversion Compatibility Check
We assess whether your bike is suitable for an e-bike conversion before any work begins. For mid-drive kits, we check the bottom-bracket shell, thread condition and available space, as some frames cannot safely accommodate a motor. For hub-motor kits, we check the dropouts, axle fit, frame clearance and wheel compatibility. We’ll explain any limitations and recommend the most suitable conversion option for your bike.

Wheel true 2 spokes included (+£3 per spoke after)
Wheel Truing: Includes truing and tensioning of a standard wheel, with up to two replacement spokes included. Additional spokes are £3 each. For specialist, high-value or non-standard wheels, we’ll inspect the wheel first and let you know if a different price applies before any work begins.

Hydraulic Brake Bleed
Hydraulic Brake Bleed: We replace the brake fluid and bleed your hydraulic brake system to remove air, restoring firm and reliable braking performance. The service includes checking for leaks and ensuring the brake is operating correctly. Any additional repairs or replacement parts will be discussed with you before work begins.

Chain fitting labour is £10, plus the cost of the chain. Chain prices: 8-speed and below £15; 9-speed £20; 10-speed £25; 11-speed £28; 12-speed £30; 13-speed £35.

Includes parts and fitting of a new external brake cable. We’ll install and set up the cable, then realign and adjust the brakes to ensure smooth, reliable operation.

Labour-only fitting and adjustment of an external gear cable. We’ll install and set up the cable, then realign and adjust the gears for smooth, reliable shifting. Parts are excluded; gear cables are £5 each.

Replace Disc Brake Pads
Labour-only fitting of new disc brake pads. We inspect the pads and rotor, clean and check the caliper and pistons, fit and align the new pads, then adjust and test the brake. Parts are not included and are charged separately.
