Full Cycle is an eco-conscious community bike project (CIC) based in Kingston Upon Thames. Set up in July 2020 in response to the shortage of bike-related community facilities in this corner of Southwest London, we’re as passionate about recycling as cycling. Our mission is to refurbish and rehome unwanted bikes, minimising waste, promoting active travel and giving people from all backgrounds access to affordable cycling. Whilst Kingston is perceived as an affluent area, we recognise that the borough has pockets of deprivation that rank amongst some of the most disadvantaged in the country – most of which are less than a mile from our workshop. As a social enterprise, we have a strong focus on working with local grassroots causes to inspire and support more people into cycling. This includes giving them the skills and confidence to keep riding, delivered through a mix of training, maintenance workshops, servicing and group rides. We also work closely with local partners – including Kingston Council’s active travel team – to maximise resources and skills. Bike Donations We rely on donations of unwanted bikes from members of the public and also partner with groups – including rail operators – to ensure a steady stream of bicycles that can benefit local residents in need. Profits made from bike sales, servicing, repairs and workshops are reinvested into the project. This allows us to buy new parts and offer subsidised bikes, bike accessories and training opportunities to partner charities and organisations we work with Volunteers Our ever-growing community of friendly volunteers are fundamental to the running of the project. Made of people of all ages and all skill levels, their individual skills, enthusiasm, ideas and energy are what make the project possible. And their passion for giving back to the community makes the biggest difference of all.
