In the course of the assembly, the wheels and handlebars fitted. Chain tension and brakes adjusted. Steering and bottom bracket bearing tension adjusted. Tyres inflated. 

Bicycle Build - Adult Single Speed

Inspect frame for damage/wear including dropouts, main tubes, seat clamp area, bottle cage and accessory mounting points

Frame/Fork

Inspect/adjust hub bearings for wear/damage, ensure smooth movement/no play

Wheels/Tyres

Adjust brake, ensure correct function including no rub and appropriate bite-point

Brakes (Brake & Pad Type)

Install crankset, ensure smooth running/no play

Bottom Bracket/Cranks

Inspect and regrease pedal/crankarm threads

Pedals

Clean and inspect seat post and clamp. Grease/fibre grip as appropriate

Saddle

Fit the handlebar and stem

Fit the wheels

A premium service is recommended every 18-24 Months for a well used bike. 

Premium Service

Inspect / adjust suspension linkages (if required)

Inspect fork for damage/wear including dropouts, main tubes, crown, steerer tube and accessory mounting points

Suspension forks, clean/inspect seals and upper tubes. Check for function

Inspect headset for wear/corrosion, adjust

Inspect stem for wear, check/adjust torque, straight

Inspect handlebar for wear/damage, check torque

Inspect handlebar tape/grips for wear/damage

Inspect spokes and rim for wear/damage

Inspect spoke tension and true lateral/radial as appropriate

Inspect tyres for condition and wear

Inspect tubeless system, top-up or replace consumables as appropriate

Inspect condition of lever, including main body, blades and position. Adjust if required. 

Inspect condition of hose/cable

Inspect condition of brake pads

Inspect caliper for correct function including clean/lube pistons

Inspect condition of hydraulic fluid if applicable

Inspect brake rotor for wear/damage/torque

Clean and inspect bottom bracket shell threads if appropriate

Inspect bottom bracket torque, ensure free rotation of bearings

Inspect chain rings/crank arms/spindle for wear/damage

Inspect pedal body for wear/damage

Ensure smooth rotation of pedal bearings and check for play

Inspect cassette for wear/damage and torque

Drivetrain/Gears

Inspect chain for wear/damage lubricate

Ensure derailleur hanger is straight and secure

Inspect rear derailleur cable/electronic wire for wear/damage

Inspect rear derailleur for wear/damage

Set rear derailleur upper/lower limits and b-tension

Adjust rear derailleur indexing

Inspect front derailleur for wear/damage

Set front derailleur position/height

Set front derailleur upper/lower limits

Adjust front derailleur indexing

Update electronic drivetrain firmware

Charge/replace electronic drivetrain batteries

Clean and insect saddle rails/clamps. Adjust position if needed

Check saddle for wear/damage

Ensure any accessories are safe/secure

Replace the rear tyre

Replace outer chainring

Remove the fork from the frame. Dismantle the fork, and inspecting the inner and external legs. Cleaning the components and regreasing as recommended by the manufacturer. Refitting the fork and adjusting the steering bearings and front brake.

Fit full mudguards

Cleaned the rotors and brake pads. Replaced the cassette and chain, rear brake cable and front brake inner cable.

Add sealant

Remove the front fork and any related parts on a standard build, no internal cables. 

Replace the lower headset bearings

Detach the front brake hose, remove the handlebar stem to access the lower headset bearing.  Refit and bled the front brake and ensure the rotor runs cleanly.

Replace the brake fluid, clean the caliper, Adjust the brake caliper to ensure for free rotation.

Battery Capacity Test

Build the bike: set up the brakes, chain tension, stabilisers, inflate the tyres, fit accessories.

External inspection of the bicycle, paying particular attention to the frame and forks for distortion, cracking or mis-alignment. Inspection of the components for damage. Research the cost of replacement parts. Write a report on my findings and observations.
